About the Artist:
Rachel
Piering was born in Indiana but since childhood has lived in South and
Central Florida. She is a sister to three brothers with a mom who has set the example for living life to the fullest. Rachel
graduated from Stetson University with an M.B.A. and minor in Fine Art.
Her career in business and art began as Gallery Manager at Hoy Poloi
Gallery in Orlando. In
2005, Rachel transitioned a drawing into her first painting titled
“Love: Logic or Passion?” She hasn't stopped painting since and has
developed an artistic style that is easily recognizable and uniquely
her own. Rachel has participated in several juried group and solo
exhibitions at numerous galleries throughout Florida. Her love for
travel provoked a desire for national and international exposure.
Rachel exhibited at the Chicago Tribune Art Festival in Chicago and at
a solo exhibition in Honduras. She is a two time grant recipient from
the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. The D.B.A. 2010
exhibition is her first experience as curator of a group show. Through
her chosen medium of acrylic on canvas, she addresses topics such as
Sociology, specifically the role of women; and the Environment. Artwork
is categorized into three series: "Art for Life" - "Ladies" -
"Enviro-Art." Her artistic style is bright and bold incorporating
blended colors, clean lines and texturized accents. Female forms are a
representation of beauty and portals for communicating reality in an
unrealistic way. Rachel’s tag line sums it up: Love to Live. Live to
Learn. Learn to Love.
